Back on track

It's already been 4 weeks since my last post and I can't believe how fast time flies by! So sorry that I haven't been keeping up with my blog, but I have been keeping up with my weight loss. I'm down 7 more pounds from 4 weeks ago and although that feels good, it sure seems to take a long time to lose just a few pounds. My eating has been really good, though, so I feel great.

A couple of times this past month I have given in and had some junk. I didn't totally over do it, but I had some dessert that was sugary and fattening. It tasted yummy but not much later after I and indulged the pain came. Have you every experienced that? So I am eating healthy day after day and i have energy, I feel good, I'm feeling thinner and all that good stuff. Then suddenly I have 2 pieces of Key Lime pie and I feel blah. When I overindulge like that I am sure to pay for it with a stomach ache - not to mention the scale usually moves in the opposite direction from what I want!

However, I believe that it is okay, even good, to indulge. It helps me to stay on track when I just take a day 2 or 3 times a month and eat something completely unhealthy. I get the satisfaction of tasting the yummyness in my mouth so I don't feel so deprived, but then I am also reminded of how I feel when I eat well - terrific! So I do that one day and the very next day I am right back on track! That is why I think Every Day Is (or can be) January 1st! Start over anytime, don't wait for the beginning of a new year, a new month or a new week, start today.

I would love to hear your comments and experiences - thanks for sharing!!

Before

Okay, these are not my true "before" pictures because I neglected to get my picture taken right after I came home from the hospital. At that time, I weighed 180 pounds. I had a lot of water weight because now, less than 7 weeks later, I weigh 150 pounds. About 10 of those I worked hard for with eating healthy and exercising. My plan is to post more pictures as I continue to lose weight. We'll see how diligent I am at doing that!
My intention in sharing this information with you about me is to help motivate. I also am planning to share my frustrations so that you will see that you are not alone. When you work hard and don't to see much progress, or the scale doesn't seem to budge, know that you are not alone. Please share your comments with me, too so that we can help each other. No matter what your fitness goals are, you can reach them if you continue on the path to health and don't give up!
Please share your healthy progress with me!

Welcome!

As I was exercising this morning I was thinking about how most of the time come January 1st people are excited to get going with a renewed desire to get fit, be healthy and lose weight. Since I just had a baby and she was born in June, I didn't want to wait until January 1st to get exercising. I had gained 64 pounds from the time I got pregnant until the day of my delivery - the most I had gained with any of my previous 4 pregnancies. I decided this morning that I would create a blog to encourage and try to motivate myself and others to not only exercise, but to eat healthy and to do it every day, not waiting until January first to start.
Please keep in mind that I am not a registered dietician, a personal trainer or a nurse. I am a mom with five beautiful children and a desire to be healthy and fit. I will give tips and advice that work for me, but please keep in mind that it may not work for you and please check with a Dr before starting a fitness program. If you have questions, feel free to ask. If you disagree with me about something, let me know. I'll do my best to research and study things out, but I am only human.
I sincerely hope that you can benefit from this blog. If you are struggling to stay motivated in your weight loss or healthy habits, maybe this will help. Thanks for joining me!
